Gay marriage refers to same-sex marriage in
Dictionary.com. Today, though many countries are now open to or not against gay
marriage.
A large reason that prevent gay marriage being legal is
religion. Among the three biggest religion in the world, two of them have
specific words that love between same-sex people are wrong. In Christianism,
homosexual is a sin in the Bible. In Islam, Quran also criticize homosexual as
a sin. While Buddhism have no comment on homosexual which because Buddhism
doesn’t criticize or judge on any thing. Some pious people follow what god said
in the book. So it’s easier to understand why gay marriage haven’t become legal
in so many other countries.
Here’s a question in Socrates method. Is it religion
the real reason that keeps gay marriage from being legal? From my perspective,
it’s fine that people don’t agree gay marriage or against it. However, it’s
human’s right to love who they want and get married with the person they want
to. What I believe is that What I believe is that people can express their disagreement,
but have to show their respect. So many violence incidents are happening all around the
world just because that the victim is homosexual. It’s not saying that having a
belief and be faithful to it is inadvisable. While we inherit the valuable
ideas from bible, Quran or etc, it is also significant for us to consider what we really need to keep
and what is supposed to be left in the history while the world is developing.
Critical thought and conversation about gay marriage is vital if we are concerned about the civil rights of all people. Many people oppose gay marriage on moral grounds, stating that their religious text specifically condemns homosexuality. However, not all religious people feel that homosexuality in general, and gay marriage in particular, is immoral. So, if there isn't consensus among the faithful, can opposition really be seen as divinely ordained?
