Gay marriage is the marriage between two people of the same biological sex and identity. As of 28 June 2014, there were sixteen countries allow same-sex couples to marry.
In the Oct.15 1971, the Supreme Court of Minnesota found that “ The institution of marriage as a union of man and woman, uniquely involving the procreation and rearing of children within a family, is as old as the book of Genesis.”
In the tradition marriage, it requires a man and a woman. Because lot of people believe in bible, and homosexuals “marrying” are not God’s will. So that some people thinks homosexuals is sinful. On the Other hand, some people thought they also have the right to choice the life that they want. Therefore some people believe that whether heterosexual, bisexual or homosexual, is a gift from God.
For the next generation, some people thought children need both a mother and a father. And environment will influence children a lot. But in the United States, Gay marriage is protected by the constitution’s commitments to liberty and equality. “ Freedom of personal choice in matters of marriage and family life is one of the liberties protected by the Due Process Clause.”
Everyone has the freedom to choice the right one to marry, no matter your biological sex.
Homosexuals doesn't hurt any one; they just try to find the true love. People shouldn't judge them.
I was surprised when I see around sixty countries allowed homosexual marriage, and I agree with what you said people should have their right to chose who to married, either women or men.
ReplyDeleteI really like the way you introduced the topics and phrased things, but why didn't you question anything?
ReplyDeleteSexual orientation is not used to judge people or violate human rights. I believe more and more countries will be open to gay marriage in the future
ReplyDeleteYumi, this is a great and timely topic. You provide a good outline on the equality vs. morality argument that is at the heart of gay marriage. However, you didn't really apply the Socratic method to the topic. For example, those that are against gay marriage generally object on moral grounds saying, as you mentioned, that the Bible or Quran state that homosexuality is immoral. Yet, do all Christians and Muslims feel that homosexuality is immoral? While many might, many also don't. These kinds of inconsistencies in belief are what Socrates was trying to get to.
ReplyDeleteI think this was a good topic and you provided a lot of facts!
